Finally able to drive again (at least during the day), I headed out to the Mount Evans Wilderness area to take on Hell's Hole Trail. The weather was ideal and the wildflowers among the aspens were amazing. It was a true delight to be back on the trail again!

I haven't been able to do too much "adventuring" lately after coming down with an eye condition that limits my driving, but this weekend Jen and I managed to go car camping along CR-60 off of Highway 285. This was only our second time camping in Colorado, and our first time in this area. Remarkably, we managed to camp completely unsupervised by...

Feeling cheated out my hike last weekend, I headed out to Corwina Park on a school night to hike the Panorama Trail. About 1.5 miles in, the trail features a scenic overlook of Kittridge and O'Fallon Park in the Bear Creek Canyon.

With more snow in the high country this week, I went searching for more trails in the foothills and discovered O'Fallon Park, where I hiked the Mountain View Loop trail. My original plan was to combine the Mountain View Loop trail with the West Ridge Loop and Picnic Loop trails, but a work emergency caught up with me a mile or so in, so I had to...

Looking for a quick escape while waiting for the Spring thaw in the high country, Jen and I headed to Mount Falcon Park to tackle the Devil's Elbow Trail. Considering its proximity to Denver, we were pleasantly surprised how nice this trail was. That said, the park can get pretty crowded in the afternoon and you have to share the trail with...

My wife enjoys the beach as much as I enjoy the mountains, so we planned a long weekend at a beach resort in Cozumel, Mexico. The resort was great, the weather was awesome, and the drinks were refreshing, but unfortunately, the thing I'll remember most about this vacation will be the second to worst case of food poisoning I've gotten to date....

In search of a dry trail, I headed back out to Golden Gate Canyon State Park this weekend. This time I hiked the Burro Trail loop starting at the Bridge Creek Trailhead. An 0.7 mile (one-way) offshoot of the Burro Trail leads up to Windy Peak, but alas, the snow defeated me again.

At my friend Woz's reccomendation, I decided to check out Golden Gate Canyon State Park, which is just northwest of Golden. Starting at the Ralston Roost trailhead, I followed the Black Bear Trail for about 2.5 miles until I had to turn around because the snow got too deep. There had been snowy patches all along, but at the turning point the snow...

Happy Easter! Today we went snowshoeing at Echo Lake in the Mount Evans Wilderness. Another beautiful Colorado day- not a cloud in the sky!

This year the family Christmas vacation was Ireland. Jen and I met my parents, Stu and Dianne, in Boston on Saturday, December 29th and flew to Ireland the next day. Unfortunately, my brother Trevor and his finacee Erin couldn't make the trip.
