Despite the gloomy weather today, I headed out to Deer Creek Canyon Park for my first Spring hike. The trailhead is very close to Denver so it made for the perfect season opener to stretch the legs, and test out the hiking gear. The pictures aren't much to look at, but the weather was a nice change of pace from Colorado's typical clear and sunny...

For our second wedding anniversary, Jen and I drove to Sante Fe, New Mexico for a long weekend. The final days of the Albuquerque balloon festival took place the same weekend, so Sante Fe turned out to be quite crowded, but we still managed to relax and enjoy ourselves.

Looking for something less strenuous to do in the mountains, Jen and I decided to drive Guanella Pass today. Guanella Pass Road (CR-62) is 22 miles long and connects Highway 285 (in Grant) to I-70 (in Georgetown). The drive goes through Pike and Arapahoe National Forests including the Mount Evans Wilderness area.
