At the Trailhead
Deer Creek Canyon

Despite the gloomy weather today, I headed out to Deer Creek Canyon Park for my first Spring hike. The trailhead is very close to Denver so it made for the perfect season opener to stretch the legs, and test out the hiking gear. The pictures aren't much to look at, but the weather was a nice change of pace from Colorado's typical clear and sunny forecast. Of course, one cloudy day is enough!

I would also recommend this trail for beginner mountain bikers. If you can handle the steady climb up, the downhill looks pretty fun and not too technical.

And yes, I know its been awhile since I've posted anything to this site. This is primarily due to two reasons. First, Jen and I bought a house in January and have been busy getting settled in. And second, I need to start carrying a small camera on our many mini adventures. As much as I love my Canon SLR, sometimes its size deters me from bringing it along and taking photos. (I can hear the collective gasp of all you hardcore photographers.) Anyway, give me a few more weeks to master lawn care, and then I'll be back on the trail...

At roughly 2 miles, Plymouth Creek Trail splits off to the right while Plymouth Mountain Trail continues to Scenic Trail (and eventually loops back).

Although I don't think camping is allowed in the park.

Hmm, I'm not getting my hopes up today. (The Plymouth Mountain Trail also continues on here, eventually looping back to Plymouth Creek Trail.)

The weather allowed me to reminisce about hiking the Inca Trail through the rain forest in Peru.
