Looking for a quick get-away over Memorial Day weekend, Jen and I took a day trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. The sand dunes were created by wind and water carrying sand down from the mountains, while a very strong and steady wind from the southeast blows the sand back towards the mountains. The highest dune, Star Dune, is the tallest sand dune in North America at 750 feet.
