Gibson Lake Trail

This weekend Jen and I went car camping Saturday night and hiked the Gibson Lake Trail Sunday morning.

Camping Along CR-60

The night before hiking the Gibson Lake Trail, we camped along CR-60 for the second time this summer. This time we got to break in our new 4-man tent from REI.

Jen points out that if we forget to put the truck's emergency brake on, we'll make good candidates for a Darwinian award.

I tried to go for the lighted tent look you see in so many magazines, but my weak backpacking flashlight just didn't cut it.

The Hike

Thinking we had camped near the trailhead, we walked up CR-60 to the Gibson Lake Trail the next morning for what the National Forest called an "easy" hike. Well, it turned out that that we hadn't camped as close to the trailhead as we thought, adding another 1.5 miles to a hike that didn't seem very "easy" to me.
